To mark the 200th episode of this podcast I decided to combine several ideas into an open buffet of information and commentary. First we look at Reda Hassaine, a journalist who became a spy for Algerian, French and British intelligence in the 1990s, infiltrating and informing on the emerging Islamist movement in the UK and their ties to the Algerian GIA terrorist group. Then we move onto my analysis of a recent academic article claiming that Spongebob Squarepants is military-colonial propaganda. I also discuss my thoughts on representation in Hollywood, and why should embrace diversity in much more than mere demographics of casting. I round off by looking at some of my favourite film and TV of 2019, including The Boys, Succession and The Report.
