Reality Winner was an NSA contractor who leaked a single document to The Intercept, and received a five year prison sentence for her efforts. In this episode we are joined by Kevin Gozstola of Shadowproof and The Dissenter, to review the film Reality, a minute-by-minute depiction of the day she was interrogated by the FBI. We talk about the film’s origins, the document and play it is based on, the ironic casting of the FBI agents, the Reality Winner case and the obvious abuses of her rights. We also explore some of Kevin’s criticisms of the film, as well as the wider state of whistleblowing in the US.
