The disinformation war kicked into high gear this week with the release of an interview with Petrov and Boshirov by RT. Many people, even sceptics of the British government’s story about the Skripals, have expressed how unconvincing the interview is, leading me to ask: was this RT’s intention? Rather than trying to advance an alternative narrative, are they simply trying to cast doubt on all the different versions of events?
The most common reactions to the RT interview have tended to be:
1) Boris and Natasha look like Russian mobsters.
2) Boris and Natasha might be gay lovers who go on romantic holidays to Western Europe because Russia isn’t very gay-friendly.
3) Boris and Natasha aren’t very convincing.
Let’s analyse each of these reactions.
