I am proud to announce that Critical Sociology have today published an article I co-wrote with Matt Alford that sums up the major findings from our research for National Security Cinema. Titled ‘New Evidence for the Surprisingly Significant Propaganda Role of the Central Intelligence Agency and Department of Defense in the Screen Entertainment Industry‘ our article shows how the scale of government involvement in entertainment is approximately 10 times that documented in previous studies and the degree of politically-motivated government-enforced script changes is worse than anyone realised. We also look at how important data has been withheld from public scrutiny, and the pro-active, aggressive nature of the DOD’s operations in Hollywood.
