It has been a long time coming, but the documentary Theaters of War is now available via on demand streaming. Over the last 3 1/2 years Matt Alford, Roger Stahl, Seb Kaempf and myself have collaborated to produce what is, quite simply, the best documentary on the military and CIA in Hollywood. Featuring interviews with Matt, Seb, Tricia Jenkins, Tanner Mirrlees, Oliver Stone and others, Roger weaved together a highly informative and engaging film that represents the culmination and distillation of years – if not decades – of research.
If you want to rent Theaters of War for 48 hours of limitless streaming then you can do so via Vimeo on demand:
I do make a brief appearance or two in Theaters of War but my primary roles on this project were researching the entertainment liaison offices, discussing which of the vast collection of stories and documents we should use to shape the story, and a whole lot of reviewing different cuts, suggesting edits, structural changes, tonal corrections and so on. It has been very challenging but extremely rewarding when you watch the finished product, which obviously I recommend you all do.
Note for journalists, reviewers and the like: We do have review copies available so please just contact Matt, Roger or myself and we can hook you up if you’re interested in arranging a screening, writing a review, or otherwise helping get the word out about Theaters of War.
I’d just like to add at this point that this has been one of the most fun things I’ve ever been involved with, and that I want to thank all my fellow film-makers as well as the fine people at MEF who are distributing Theaters of War. We did it, and it’s quite glorious to look at.
